bromeliad flower
My son came over a couple of weeks ago and showed me how to set my camera on the macro function. So here is my first macro gallery.
My grandson spotted this cicada which had just emerged and was drying it’s wings.
If my kitty was a bird, this is what her fur would look like.
fern
mexican bird of paradise
passion flower
The fingernail sized leaves of silver pony foot.
The heart of a succulent flower that attracts flies.
This wasp was busy digging a hole. It allowed me to take a couple of pictures and then got annoyed and started flying at me.
Very nicely done! It takes patience to get close enough, and hold still enough, to capture these portraits of things small.
ReplyDeletewell done! these are sooooo beautiful pictures, you are now a professional photographer.
ReplyDeleteYou have some very lovely photos here. I love the cicada and wasp.. and the passion flower, and heart of that other flower. Beautiful and colourful.
ReplyDeleteSo nice that your grandson helped you to find your subjects. These photos are amazingly beautiful. I wish I had a camera with a macro setting.
ReplyDeleteFantstic, Ellen! Do you love it? I cannot get enough of playing around with the macro feature. It's like entering a whole new world. Do you think the images you're capturing might influence your work with glass? Can't wait to see what else you show us!
ReplyDeleteWow! Wonder if my camera has that feature.....I guess I could read the manual. No, I like the way you did it....I should have one of my children read the manual, then show me how. Yes, yes, I like that>
ReplyDeleteHoly macro, these are great! I just love the pink of the first photo, and that cicada is amazing. I think you've discovered a whole new world.
ReplyDeleteI think all of them are amazing. You take good photogrphs and you are also good at finding things to take pictures of. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThe cicada is incredible. They're all great photos, but that one really stuns me. The eye, I think. Wow. I've experimented with my own cameras macro function but it has never worked out so well.
ReplyDelete(Blush) thank you all so much. Yes, Kathleen, I do love it. I have found that it has to be a still day for the flowers. I think, Mo (nice to see you again) that the cicada is my favorite too. And the succulent flower which is, btw, a big starfish shaped thing, probably 6" - 8" from tip to tip.
ReplyDeleteWow ~ loved the flower with the circles ... wonder if my camera has that feature
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures. How do we know if our cameras have this function?
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures. Had never seen anything like the bromeliad flower before.
ReplyDeleteSome great shots there, Ellen!
ReplyDeletewow. some crazy close ups. if i was a fly i would probably get dizzy and fall in that flower. congrats on the POTD mention!
ReplyDeleteWonderful!! Congrats on the Post of the Day mention!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your mention in POTD! Isn't the macro function FUN to use?
ReplyDeleteLovely focuses. You give me ideas to try macro shooting...!! I just may.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for mention at POTD.
