two days with Jade and miscellaneous pictures

Hanging out with Jade Friday and Saturday we visited the shops in town and in Glen Flora and Jade scored a few items and I found something I wanted. At first the shop owner said she had sold them all but when leaving I saw some in the front window but I had to climb in there to get it.
Had dinner at the house, salad and potatoes for vegan Jade, adding salmon for us. We visited with my sister, rifled through my jewelry that I never wear and gave Jade two necklaces and a ring.

Some miscellaneous pictures...

A little green frog.

Jade standing in front of the heritage rose I planted over in the shop yard with plans to never prune it back. This is the rose that my elderly neighbor gave me a cutting from back when I lived in the city. When we moved out here I took three cuttings, one I planted over at the shop in this picture, one I planted at the house here which I prune back every year, and the third I sent to Mary Moon.

The sun shining through the faceted glass ball hanging in a window casting a prism on the kitchen cabinet door through a bird nest sitting on a shelf above the kitchen sink.

The sunset Friday night.

The tea set that belonged to my grandmother or great grandmother. Pam thinks probably our great grandmother. It has 6 tea cups and saucers but I'm only setting one out.

The pine cone lilies, a type of ginger, that Ms Moon sent me.

  2. Great gallery. Jade is lovely. Are there any markings on the teaset? It's so cool to have it intact

    1. one teacup has a chipped rim but other than that it's intact. made in Japan, my sister is researching it. so far the pattern is blue willow and pre WWII so between 1920 and 1940. she hasn't identified the maker mark yet.

  4. Fascinating! Love the tea set... I have a pitcher and glass set that was an engagement gift from Robert's grandfather to his grandmother. Amazing how things come to us in life. Thanks for sharing... you really must have 10 green thumbs as I don't know of all that many things that have croaked on you. Kudos especially on that rose bush!!

  5. Lovely portrait of Jade with the heritage roses. The image made by the sun, the prism and the bird nest is wonderful.

  6. Those necklaces are pretty. I rarely wear a necklace any more: never at work, and usually not when I go out, either. Around here, with 'cruising casual' or jeans and tees the order of the day, I just never think of it. Your rainbow on the wall reminds me of the brilliant sun dog I saw a couple of nights ago. It was small, and there was only one instead of the pair that sometimes shows up, but it was gorgeous.

    1. the one with the little silver shells is a favorite but I never go anywhere even before covid and haven't ever really been into personal adornment. I'm not really sure from who I acquired them, some family member, maybe my mother. Jade is small so they fit her perfectly.

    2. We saw sundogs the other day & I actually thought I could see the top of the arch - rainbow behind the clouds with just a bit peaking through.

    1. that rose gets full sun all day and I've not cut it back once. I can't remember what year I planted it but it's at least five years, could be 6.

  11. You have been wonderfully busy. The blue and white service does look like a chocolate pot tho not a tea pot.

  12. I do that when my daughter visits - let her take jewelry or decorations that she can use. I enjoy knowing that she will enjoy them! The blue and white service is lovely! I like how you and Mary Moon have shared plants - I enjoy knowing the bloggers connect and reach out to each other!

  13. I love how you all are able to share cuttings. I wish I could do that, but the customs people would never allow it!

Ah yes, "Blue Willow" -- a beautiful tea set. And nice necklaces too! Score for Jade! The rose bush is pretty impressive.
