For
all those who asked about Big Mama turtle during the hard freeze
here, she was hunkered down in the bottom of her pond. I expect
she'd be out today if it wasn't raining since it's supposed to get up
to 70˚. Yes, Tuesday morning it was 25˚. That's living on the
Gulf Coastal Plains for ya.
And
the garden made it through. In fact everything looks like
it grew while under the tarp.
One
last picture...our future bluebonnet patch. I think it's going to be
the biggest this year since we have lived here.
Same-same here. I swear.
ReplyDeleteOh thank goodness your turtle is a smart one and sought the bottom. Our goldfish used to do that. Their tub would be completely iced over and when I broke an air hole there they'd be at the bottom looking up at me.
ReplyDeleteCrazy ass weather.
Ry asked today, what should I wear this morning? a coat, long sleeves or flip flops? What a character, but kinda true. We'll be back up to the 50's this weekend.
Smart turtle! Can't wait for the blue-bonnets...
ReplyDelete(Why I felt the need to hyphenate bluebonnet I do not know - ha!)
ReplyDeleteLook at your garden! You're saving a lot of money by growing your own organic veggies.
ReplyDeletePretty funny to take a short break for her.
ReplyDeleteunscathed indeed! Glad it was a quick freeze! Not a long lasting one! B Mama looks happy, tough little bugger!
ReplyDeleteOkay.. I'm ready for spring now. Just Four more months to go! Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for the garden, I'm glad for Mama, and most glad of all about bluebonnets. I remember hillsides of them in Texas. Well, sort of swells, not hills.
ReplyDeleteTurtles and other cold-blooded creatures are miraculous.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing a photo of bluebonnets taken in this same place in a few months. :)
Oh, good. I was genuinely worried about Big Mama, though I figured she'd survive -- she has evolution on her side!
ReplyDeleteNice colors in that turtle pond.
ReplyDeleteThank god Big Mama is ok!
