Back
when I was doing the river guide thing, canoeing and kayaking, I also
assisted a friend on occasion who taught kayaking. He would always
begin any soiree on the water by asking everyone if they had their 5
essentials...kayak, paddle, helmet, spray skirt, and pfd (personal
flotation device commonly known as a life preserver). Also necessary
but not considered essential was water and a snack.
I
don't kayak anymore, have given away all my kayak gear, not that I
wouldn't again but all my paddling buddies have either moved away or
moved on in their lives, but I still retained the principal of the
five essentials.
Instead
of applying it to getting on the water, I now apply it to leaving the
house.
wallet,
glasses, keys, phone, and camera
Great idea. I need to do this because ultimately I end up forgetting something. Thanks.
ReplyDeletenot so different to mine - except my glasses are sunglasses. :)
ReplyDeleteYep - those are mine too. Although of course I carry MUCH more on a regular basis :)
ReplyDeleteI think we have the same phone!
Yes, they all live in the same little pile on the desk. Except my glasses, which have to live on my nose.
ReplyDeleteNow, that's organization!
ReplyDeleteThose things we always need. I laugh feeling uneasy without my camera.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ellen - based on what we talked about earlier, I'd say they were mine too!
ReplyDeleteYou are very together! I can't find my keys for the third day in a row, using my son's car...Glasses are glued to my face- camera is glued to my hand and my phone? where the hell is my phone?
ReplyDeleteAdd paper tissues for my, a dog lead and dog poo bags, and you’ve got me going out. O, I forgot the brolly. It always rains at least once a day.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could narrow my life down to five things. I about sprained my shoulder today with my heavy purse.
ReplyDeleteThe glasses being the most important. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are pretty much my essentials, too! (Without the glasses -- so far.)
ReplyDeleteGood list...I check these off myself!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool about the water sports. How do you not miss that?

Occasionally I have been known to not have my reading glasses especially in a restaurant...one of my five things, makes for a reason to order the same thing...I used to canoe with friends and I so miss it. nice to visit today. hugs.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but I will also need my lipstick. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust a little color is all I'm askin'...

It's true. Those are the five essentials. We get so much rain around here that adding a pfd might not be a bad idea. :)
ReplyDeleteLife changes and we (and our essentials) with it...
ReplyDeleteI guess many years ago, my 5 essentials were my pack (with extra everything and food), my tool box, my gun, my flak jacket, and a prayer.
Today... hm, I might have to blog about it ;-)
I rarely think to take my phone with me.. but the camera.. that's an essential.
ReplyDeleteI'm SO far behind with reading posts.. and I don't see that changing in the very near future. I will get back into the swing of visiting again.. I hope. :)
I LOVE it that your camera is an essential!
