a rant, more doctor shit, and attempted sedition

Well, dammitall. My new jeans arrived yesterday and they are, as I suspected they would be, the stretchy 505s. After I posted about ordering the jeans I looked at the label in my stretchy pair and it's the same in the pair that arrived yesterday...

this is the label from my older non-stretchy pair...

so once again a perfectly fine product has been changed into a not fine product. Why the fuck do women's clothes makers think that all women want stretchy pants and stretchy shirts for that matter. Couldn't they have just left 505s alone and introduced a new product? And now I'm glad I didn't buy two pairs. So now the hunt for decent jeans is on again. Am I going to have to go back to wearing men's jeans which I did for decades because I could not find a pair of women's jeans that weren't 4” too long (no, not every woman wears 4” heels all the time), weren't cinched in at the waist or so low riding they barely covered my pubic bone, weren't covered with spangly shit, or stretchy. I want my jeans the right length, the waist just above my hip bones, and not stretchy or spangly or pre-torn. Why is that so fucking impossible?

This is my month for doctor appointments I guess, get them all over with at once, so Wednesday was my follow-up with the electrophysiologist. Since the afib has settled down, especially since the election, he is content to keep the status quo so I don't see him for another six months unless it starts acting up again. Don't wait til the next appointment and to call if I start having problems, he tells me, we are partners here you and I, he says.

Next Tuesday is my dermatologist appointment but January 21st is the soonest I could get the bone density scan scheduled. What I'm not getting this year is the boob smushing as my PCP says I only need one every other year so yay for that.

I'm not even going to address the unbelievable and unthinkable, as it was pre-Trump, lawsuit petition to the Supreme Court by Texas' AG Paxton to overturn the election results in Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Michigan and the AGs from 17 other red states and 126 House Republicans as well as Trump himself that have submitted amicus briefs in support of the petition to overturn a legal and secure election to appoint Trump as the winner after over 50 lawsuits have been thrown out of court for lack of one iota of evidence or proof of fraud. Even Barr has said there was no fraud. So many republicans willing and ready to commit sedition because their guy lost. It remains to be seen if the Supreme Court is just as willing to commit sedition and throw our democracy and constitution to the wolves.

edit: the Supreme Court turned them down.

And you know, they aren't contesting every vote on a ballot that went for Biden for president since they are perfectly happy with the votes that got them elected or re-elected to the House and Senate. Apparently only votes for Biden are fraudulent but the down ballot votes for republicans are all on the up and up. And where does Texas get off contesting how other states ran their elections?  yes, I'm a Texan but not all of us are crazy or stupid   No place, there is no train or bus stop for that destination. Paxton is being investigated for criminal activity and the FBI subpoenaed records from his office the day before he filed his petition so the conventional wisdom is that he's angling for a pardon from Trump by showing his loyalty with this ridiculous lawsuit.

And Melania apparently had a member of her staff check to see if there was a government budget dedicated to paying the expense of their move out of the White House (there isn't). OK, that's enough of something I wasn't going to write about.

So ending up with a few critter pictures piling up...this little rat snake was sheltering under one of the cookie sheets I use to put the pots on inside,

I have many bird houses that mostly the birds don't use but the frogs like them,

wasps are pollinators too,

and Big Mama coming to see if I had food (I did not).

  1. Ellen, I had to check your blog to see if you had a comment on the ridiculous lawsuit. Thank you for not disappointing me:)

  2. So if Texas secedes, I will offer to be your character witness if you need one to move to New Jersey. I can't help with the visas, though, or the exit interview. But I can get you a library card.

    1. thanks, I'll put your number on speed dial. so stupid really, talk of secession pops up now and then by the crazies mainly spurred on I think by the mistaken belief that of all the states, only Texas has the right to secede since it was it's own country for a short time before being absorbed into the US. I think that was a condition of joining the US at the time but it has been revoked quite a long time ago (if I'm remembering my Texas history correctly).

  3. 505 sounds like an airplane model. Like maybe a combat flyer.

  4. Levi 505s are made in stretch and non-stretch. I also buy 605s but I prefer the stretch version. Buy them at Amazon where you can specify color and whether stretch or not.

    1. I did buy them through Amazon. I got to pick my color but I don't remember stretch or non stretch being an option. maybe that's just for men.

  5. I wore size 6 once, long ago, when I was 6. As for the idiot in the White House and those who support him, I have no words. Just feel like we are in a Twilight Zone episode.

  6. I know what you mean by "not all Texans". I'm British and I'm sure, going by who wins elections and the crazy things our governments do, a lot of people will make assumptions about me! If they do,
    they'd be wrong.

  7. I always used to wear men's Levi's too. It's amazing how 1% spandex can eff up the other 99% of cotton, isn't it?
How much time, energy, and tax payer dollars are being spent on this ridiculous attempt to prove the election wrong? I'm so SICK of that man and his wife. I think their son, Barron, is one of the saddest people on earth. On the other hand, I love your little critters, living their lives here on earth, oblivious to the follies of humans. Lucky them.

  8. The Supreme Court's decision really helped to take the edge off a bit. Now I'm just waiting for the electors to vote. I sure wish we'd get rid of this Electoral College BS. Such insanity we have to put up with in this pandemic time.
I saved the label of the last pair of jeans I bought so I would remember what the numbers actually said. I need a new pair and have been considering buying online. I just don't know what will actually arrive.

  9. I for one will support groups like the Lincoln Project to try and keep thugs such as him from rising to the top by taking off the kid gloves..SO NOW he is not a Political figure and he plans a Rally on Jan 20th to disrupt the inauguration. What a sore he is not just a sore loser.

    1. I doubt his rally in Florida will disrupt the inauguration. what he's hoping for is better ratings than the inauguration, that's all the proof he needs that he is more popular, high ratings. I doubt it will succeed. on Jan. he becomes a has-been and irrelevant and only the most diehard MAGAts will continue to rally around him. everyone else will start to drift away. I hope.

  10. The Political Theatrics continue and get more like a Banana Republic and far too many Citizens and other Politicians are all too willing to try to destroy Democracy and push The Lunatic Fringe onto the rest of us. Of coarse his Circle is taking turns getting The Rona because they're all such Covidiots and I think it's just had the side effect of making them Crazier and more unstable actually. I quit wearing Jeans entirely because of the inability to buy any I liked anymore. Too much about Women's Fashion now just pisses me off, I see Big Gals literally everywhere yet they fixate on making everything in a Size 6... your average Sixth Grader in America is bigger than that now!

    1. This all started with Reagan and the Silent Majority which segued into the Tea Party but it was Reagan who started moving the wealth upwards and when they all started getting disgustingly rich that was it for responsible republicans.

I weigh more now than I've ever weighed so I shouldn't be wearing the basic size I wore when I only weighed a little over 100 pounds. women's clothes makers have been screwing around with the sizes to make the ladies feel good. and all I can find in the stores is larger sizes. 6 S is nearly impossible.

  11. What has happened to Texas? Cruz et al? Ann Richardson, Barbara Jordan, those were the days. It all makes me want to live in another country, even though we won. That so many people fall for the grifter/traitor...

  12. I wish I could wear men's jeans because you are so right about the length. Sadly, I have a little (lot) too much junk in my trunk to wear straight jeans. Ha!

LOVE the frog in the birdhouse! So cute!

  13. How about boy's jeans? You sound like you might be small enough to fit into those?
I am not comfortable around snakes - that one would have had me running and screaming!
Monday the electoral college vote will be done and I hope it goes smoothly and clearly for Biden/Harris! Then the Republicans and their crazy leader can shut up.

  14. I am so tired of doctors that when the nephrologist said "Well, six months?", I said "No, a year." And he agreed.
Gloria Vanderbilt makes size 6, and they're available online. I don't know if they're all stretch.

  15. I really laughed at that frog in the birdhouse. That's just great. I've nothing particular against snakes, and that one was attractive, too, but it's still not something I'd be happy to find. As for the clothing, one of the great griefs of my life was all the changes that came to Land's End a few years ago. The quality of their tees went down to far I'll never order another; I can get better fabric at the resale shop or even Target. And they stopped making my favorite sweaters, and redesigned the sport pants I like. So much for another great company that decided to "upgrade" everything in sight.

  16. Well that sucks about the jeans. I hate it when I find a product I like and then it changes! The last khaki pants I bought are cut slimmer than the ones I had before, too, even though they have the same label. I can wear 'em but I don't love 'em. :/

Cute snake and that's a really nice wasp, too. I've seen red ones like that in Florida.

I don't mean to make excuses for the Republicans, but I think they're all scared to death of their base and doing anything perceived as anti-Trump. Almost the only ones who offer any resistance to this insane crusade are the ones not running for re-election, like Lamar Alexander.

  18. Well, thanks for the critters, very enjoyable. As for the rest (apart from the good afib news), you'll get out of that shit hole eventually. Stay strong, stay calm.
