In
a matter of about 12 hours Sunday/Monday temperatures went from about
90˚ to the mid-50˚s. Welcome to Texas.
Woke
up Monday morning to a strong wind from the northwest, a bit howlly.
Minnie was in her sphinx position at the foot of the bed uffing
softly at the window. And then it rained. And then it stopped though
still overcast and the forecast calls for rain for the next 8 days
straight (which has been amended now to rain just a couple of days
but overcast and warming). So much for getting out there and
attending to the flower beds and gardening now that the weather has
cooled off. Oh well, I have two more fresh molds to fill, trimmed and
done the volume measure and it's still quite chilly out there today.
My
pecan bounty so far...
I
know I keep posting pictures of the confederate rose but it's just so
pretty
and
maybe the other one's buds weren't deformed, just white though they
do turn pink by the end of the day.
And from
the Bizarro World department our liar-in-chief is claiming that his
buds the Saudis didn't kill that reporter and cut him up with a bone
saw so it must have been a group of rogue killers. Sure, the most
repressive regime on the planet was totally unaware that a bunch of
rogue killers were wandering the halls of their embassy. Trump won't,
of course, condemn Saudi Arabia because that is exactly what he would
like to do to reporters that tell the truth about him. And then there
is the Idaho fish and game commissioner who went on an animal killing
spree in Africa, bragging about killing a whole family of baboons,
even the little baby, and had to step down after the uproar but
defended himself saying he didn't do anything illegal, immoral, or
unethical. May not have been illegal but, um, yeah, it was immoral
and unethical. These people wouldn't know moral or ethical if it came
up and kissed them on the lips. Welcome to the new America, you know
the one that now threatens to withhold needed humanitarian aid to
countries that don't kowtow to Trump and whose SS goon squad (and I don't
mean Social Security) is brazenly attacking protesters.
Early
voting is going on now in Texas and I intend to cast my vote today (or not since it doesn't start til Monday).
Well, we had three cooler days and nights. Now it's back in the nineties again.
ReplyDeleteNever-ending summer.
"Rogue killers" makes me laugh. But not in a good way.
I'm glad the "deformed" buds apparently weren't deformed at all! The white flowers look great, and how cool that they change color so drastically.
ReplyDeleteThat baboon story made me sick. I just don't understand how anyone could take that action and not see anything wrong with it. It's beyond me.
It is cold today, but I must go out and do some more work and clean out the gardens. I do not look forward to it, but it must be done, sooner than later.
ReplyDeleteThe Confederate Rose is absolutely beautiful.
I wish this election was over. The wait and anxiety of it all is hard. I get more nervous about it every day and wonder if there will be will be any tampering with the votes. Scary world.
they will do as much tampering as they can get away with.
DeleteLove those roses , excited to see your creations
ReplyDeleteit's not actually a rose but a hibiscus.
DeleteIs the feather going into another grouping, or will it stand alone?
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm just sick. He has gagged us with bile and mud. I feel like it's the 1950's.
this one will stand alone. I bought two boxes with a recess in the top for a tile. it's going on one of the boxes. the moonflower was supposed to go on the other one but I decided to put it on a stand so I still have to come up with something simple and quick for the other box.
DeleteI hope you didn't go vote -- early voting doesn't start until next Monday, the 22nd. I guess if you did, you know that by now.
ReplyDeletethat's what my husband said but I thought it ended the 22nd. I drove by there and it looked deserted.
DeleteLove that feather.
ReplyDeleteWe are still waiting for rain and autumn. At this time in October we usually have a touch of hoar frost and blustery, rainy days, but we are still watering some bits of the garden, the temps are hovering at 25°C and even my most ditzy colleagues are beginning to complain that this cannot be normal (and that "they" should do something about it).
I am waiting for you all to take to the streets, the day will come. We had 250000 in Berlin on Saturday telling the populist what's what (they lost the vote the next day), 150000 the weekend before to (successfully) stop a forest being destroyed for open coal mining and that is only the start of it.
I hope we do. unfortunately I don't have that much faith in Americans.
DeleteOur early voting started today so I did my duty. Thank goodness there was a guy out front handing out a Democrat voting guide because they had signs everywhere saying "no cell phone usage in the voting booth" & that's where my cheat sheet was. Why do they care? Can you "cheat" at voting? Take a picture of a ballot? What the heck?
ReplyDeleteI agree about your Confederate Rose - just gorgeous! I wonder if that's what the neighbor up the hill has? I'll have to go check it out.
Your moulds are themselves art. A hedge against the horrors of the world.
