First
thing this morning I kicked the door jamb. I think I broke my toe.
OK, not really but it hurts like hell. Still. We're dog sitting my
sister's dog while she is in London for two weeks and as soon as I
got out of bed I let them out in the Little Backyard. It had rained
last night so the ground was wet and Minnie's first reaction was to
head back in the door. I didn't mean to kick the door jamb. I meant
to impede her progress back into the house. This was after she
decided we had slept long enough and was doing her fake sneeze thing
she does to get attention when bouncing around us on the bed doesn't
work.
Yesterday
was another day spent out in the yard. I did some pruning on an
althea and cut more gone by ginger stalks and pulled out the
mistflower that was taking over a spot where I didn't want it as well
as the wild petunias that were crowding my rosemary bush that doesn't
look so great.
I
did fire ant remediation with the soapy/orange oil water and I used
the trimmer around the culverts and the beds in the front yard. I
planted a flat of pansies and moved the buddha forward and added
another row of bricks to his platform since the wandering jew with
the little white flowers was starting to overcome him.
I finally
spread out the sandstone slabs that formed a walkway through the yard
to the driveway at the old city house that have been waiting, stacked up for me to lay them
out here but I decided that was a project for another day.
Since
it was supposed to be a rainy day today it wasn't
we decided to go to the movie to see Dr. Strange which was really
good and definitely worth the extra for 3-D. In fact if you don't
see it in 3-D then you are missing some really great effects. If you
are a Marvel fan then you probably already know this but Marvel adds
scenes during and at the end of the credits so it's usually worth
sitting through them even if you have to pee really really bad like I
did. And, there is going to be a new Guardians Of The Galaxy movie
coming out next summer which explains why the first one showed up on
TV the other night. And a new Wolverine movie coming next year as well!
OK,
I'm off to yoga.
Your yard looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe flagstones look great.
ReplyDeleteWhat became of the minuscule flaw in one of the glass panels. Did I miss an episode.
And, I was thinking about raising my rain barrel on cement blocks to get more pressure to maybe run a soaker hose. Then I saw one done that way, and the fellow didn't report success, so I guess I won't bother. But, Buddha will benefit from another row of bricks.
well, I haven't set the flagstones yet. They're just spread out so I can see the put the puzzle together later. re the flaw...I waited for a week and heard no feedback from either the art consultant or the university so I sent in my invoice which they accepted without comment. I haven't tried to contact the art consultant besides my email last Monday for fear of poking the sleeping bear. when I get paid, then I'll send them a thank you for the work. so no you didn't miss an installment, I'm just treading water til I get my check. no sense in tempting the gods.
DeleteWow, your garden still looks good. You are a busy woman. I think breaking your little toe hurts so bad. I did it not long ago and the bruising was there for a long time. Wouldn't think a little thing could cause so much discomfort. Hope it's still flip flop weather there.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is beautiful, and I'm glad you didn't break your toe.
ReplyDeleteThe movie sounds real good.I need to get over and see a few, but always find other things when I arrive in town. You are very industrious when you get into your gardens, and the beauty shows what hard work will do. it is relaxing to me, until I get up from the chair and realize my body doesn't always enjoy it as well.I am hoping all the bulbs I put in don't start coming up with all the mild weather.
ReplyDeleteNot a Marvel fan but do love the actors. Maybe we will see it. I have not liked the 3-D and waiting for them to improve it! You are one hardworker!
ReplyDeleteOuch on the toe injury! Dogs are so funny when they want us to get up. Olga starts licking us and won't stop until we relent. But I can imagine those fake sneezes, too!
ReplyDeleteThe garden is looking great. Love the Buddha platform!
Good to hear about the silence re: the panel. And I'm with you. Tiptoe around, cash the check when it arrives, and give thanks. The flagstones look great -- and sympathy for the toe. I tend to put chair legs between my toes, usually at top speed. Even though it's never a serious injury, they hurt like crazy.
ReplyDeletemy goodness, you're good at injuring yourself. :) i like your gargoyle fellow.
ReplyDeleteright!? it does seem to be happening a lot lately though it's been many years since I tried to break a toe.
