The
spider is one of my totems and courtesy of Spider Woman, the Navaho
goddess, I learned a very valuable lesson some years ago.
When
we first looked at the country house that June, there were huge webs
all over the property with golden orb weavers on them. I had
recently completed the piece Boxed Lunch which featured a golden orb
weaver so we took it as a sign and bought the place.
The
following year we had a few of the giant webs and golden orb weavers
and after that, none. I guess there is too much activity around here
now for them and so they build their webs elsewhere.
However,
we have many other spiders that decorate the place with their
weavings. They were very busy last night as this morning there were
webs all over the yard glistening with dew.
one of the webs looks like a giant parasol !!
ReplyDeletehow incredible
beautiful photos, you really captured the details
Hope called me SpiderNana the other day while we were playing super heroes in the yard :)
Fabulous! Beautiful! Awe-inspiring!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics!

Wow those are gorgeous! Right now I'm looking at a spider strand that runs from the ceiling to the top of my cube in my office. It's not the same AT ALL.
ReplyDeleteI love those early morning strolls on the grounds. We have lots of webs here, too. In the most unlikely places ....... like on the Dr. Pepper machine, over the dispenser!
ReplyDeleteFascinating! Easy, though, one of those webs could trap an elephant.
ReplyDeletereally beautiful - as long as i see the webs first. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely on a wet, dewy morning. Not so lovely to walk through one of the guy wires.
ReplyDeleteSpider webs are magical things: so gorgeous and unbelievably strong. Hard to photograph too, but you have some great shots here.
ReplyDeleteI feel sure I have totems, but I don't know what they are.
Wow, I love the spider box! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSpiders scare the living daylights out of me - I'm not fond of any of the arachnids, but oh their webs are magical.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the box. I might have to treat myself to something of yours... with a frog, or skull, or both ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe 5th web is beyond impressive.
Your web photography is wonderful. I suspect that spiders are one of my totems also... mostly because I fear them and because web design (world wide web, that is) intrigues yet eludes me.
ReplyDeleteI love these shots Ellen - I don't mind spiders webs but it's annoying running into them!
