brief interlude

Marc and Jade went off to run an errand so I took the opportunity to walk around the yard before it got too hot to venture outside.

I spotted this just hatched anole, the fourth one I've seen in the last few days. The little thing was stretched out as if resting up from its struggle to be born. It gave me the eye trying to decide if I was a danger.

Every day by mid-day the ginger looks like it hasn't been watered for weeks when, in fact, I water it every day. A few of the stalks are sporting swelling buds.

I set the some of the broken turtle egg shells on the pond filter to dry out.

The rocket larkspur, dried up and gone to seed long ago.

The one surviving azalea of the 7 that I transplanted last April. Even though I have watered every day, the heat and hot dry wind with no rain was just too much for them.

  4. Thank you for showing us some things from your garden/yard. Its a shame about the plants dying, are you going to try something different in that place?

  6. Last night I said I was going to go for a run this morning. Then I got up after 7:30am and it was already so hot that the idea went out the window.

Love all the green, especially the fleshy one ;-)

    Sorry about your plant ;-(

  7. forget about the great lens...I think you have a great eye! wonderful shots.
I love the lizard, or what did you call that little guy/gal? Anole? I love its little legs all stretched! So cute♥
turtle eggs? Where are the baby turtles? I wanna see the turtles!
I too am sorry only one Azalea survived... It must be a strong plant and now will thrive? The heat is too much for much of our plants too. We just got Blessed with a brief little soaker shower...I swear the plants & trees were all reaching to get drops. Now a long needed breeze has followed and the birds couldnt be happier singing & chirping :)

  8. sorry about your azaleas, they would have needed a lot of rainwater.

handsome creature, the anole. This is the first time I have ever heard the name. Or seen one.

Blogging is wonderful. I could show you another sheep?

  9. I love the little anole. I just watered my drooping plants (should have done so yesterday afternoon) and two little doves were cuddled together in the damp grass. They are adorable. Nice summer day post!

  10. I was so ecited when I woke to an overast sky this morning. We got a few big drops, then nothing. Just a tease!!! I think I will have to hook up the soaker hose again and leave it all night. Just about a month ago we were so wet .....
