synopsis

Let’s see...where was I when I last left you.  Oh yeah, commuting.

This past week was a drag.  Commuting back and forth.  The plumber came on Wednesday afternoon and the problem turned out to be a loose connection at the meter (nice going gas company).  Fixed in a jiffy and only cost us the service fee but we were not prepared to spend the night so back we went.

We did get the panel finished yesterday.  It’s a 4’ x 5’ wall mounted piece for a gas company (what irony) with a sort of contemporary rendering of pipes and pipelines.  I haven’t taken a picture yet.  Installation is scheduled for Thursday.  I had to re-do the background with the etching cream on Wednesday as the material was so cold when I did it on Tuesday that it didn’t work very well.  Had to re-stencil the panel and re-apply the cream but it looked good the second time (I do learn from my mistakes...I warmed it up in front of the heater before applying).  Thursday and Friday was spent applying the copper and silver leaf accents.

When we headed into town on Thursday morning prepared to spend the night (meaning we had a change of clothes and the cat), I declined to take the computer.  It was just going to be one night, right?  I could do without it for one night!  And actually, I was so tired on Thursday evening that I was ready for bed by 8:30.

Well, I’m caught up on my reading now though I have left very few comments.  The weather has warmed up considerably and they are forecasting even warmer for next week...maybe even the low 70s.  One can only hope.  Today though, it’s cold, windy and rainy.

  4. Hi Ellen. Thanks for the visit! I smile when I read your temperature for the day. We get all giddy when the talk is about a temp around freezing. : )

  5. Yep - delicious irony about the gas company!

I hadn't really thought about how the cold would make you have to change your procedures - & that you might have to do some trial & error first because you guys aren't used to that much cold!

  7. darn, my internet is in and out every few minutes -- been this way for days, and before that it was completely out for a week. Done everything to fix it, no luck. So I just lost my comment.

I was gushing about how beautiful I think your work is and thanking you for talking more about your process, for one. Gush Gush

And I agreed it was ironic that your project was for the gas co. I was glad that the prob at home was as simple as that in the end... and said how great it is indeed to get unplugged once in awhile. We were unable to get internet at the little log cabin we rented for a week in VA and I actually read -- not junk -- and wrote long pages and pages in my journal, something I used to do daily for 40 years but struggle to do since blogs were born. It centers and focuses me in a way no blogging can... works better than any meditation I've tried. Got to get back to it. STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!!!

  11. Ellen, Forgive my absence please, mid-winter takes it out of me a bit and I have had trouble keeping up with blogland. With the holiday today, I am having a nice time blog-hopping. :-)

  12. I'm a week behind on my reading!!! (Obviously.) Agggghh!

I tell you, I try my hardest to keep up, but it's really difficult, isn't it? I feel ya, sista-friend.

We had temps in the 50's this weekend, which was a nice change. But it's supposed to get cold again this week, with more snow expected. I'm really not ready for it again.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
