eye OK and sketches

Thursday, my eye felt so much better that I decided I must have just scratched it somehow and it was now healing. It was still irritating but not painful like it had been the previous two days. Yesterday, while not as bad as Tuesday and Wednesday, it was much worse than Thursday. OK, grumble grumble. I called the eye doctor's office and they got me in right away. Turns out out I had not one, but two, eyelashes on my bottom eyelid that had turned themselves inward and were poking me in the eye. He plucked them out with tweezers and the relief was immediate.

I did get all my full size drawings done for the residential job and made line drawings of the photos for the panels for the small animal hospital, each panel 4' x 7'.

Next week I start on fabrication for the residential job but until then, it's the weekend and as this is my Saturday off from the antique store that means I have two full days to putz around in the yard...

which is where I'm headed.

  1. Phew. An artist with an eye on the blink (couldn't resist that one) is not a good thing. I'm glad it got sorted out. Enjoy your down time. Although yard work isn't exactly lolling around eating bon bons.

  2. Oh for goodness sake. The body has one million ways to insult itself, doesn't it?
I should be working in the yard too but my grands are over and so instead, we are mostly playing. Right now Magnolia is asleep and the boys are catching small bugs and feeding them to the baby chicks. It's like a circus in that room.

  3. How lucky that it was something so simple. Eyesight is precious to us all but certainly slows you down! Those drawings are really full of warmth.

  4. Those line drawings are so complex; I'll be interested to see how you execute them.

  5. That's tough stuff on your eye, but nice to hear instant relief.

  6. Glad your eye situation is resolved. I like your drawings. Are they really four by seven feet? This isn't such a small project after all. I do love witnessing the steps necessary to complete this project and can't wait to see the completed work.

  7. Good eye news! Your drawings have beautiful details. Happy garden putzing. My crocus have poked through but we are due for daytime temps in the 30's and nights in the teens next week.

  8. Well Ellen, I never heard of such a thing. And I thought I was the one that always had strange things happen to me. Can't wait to see the end result. Looks very difficult.

  9. I'm so glad the eye problem was easily resolved. And the drawings are great. It's such a treat to be able to follow along on projects like this. I'm lucky to be able to draw a straight line-- as the saying goes. I like the designs, too. They're filled with warmth.

  10. I had the same thing happen on the 21st of March - eye pain. Couldn't see anything and the first thing I thought of was, eyelashes turned inward! My mom told me that happened often when I was a little kid. I also got right in to the dr. (I didn't wait as long as you did. Wimp factor here.) He found "something," got it out and it fell on the floor. He didn't know what it was. I told hub it was probably a dog hair.
Glad you have a great project. Looks wonderful and I admire your work!

  11. I wonder what people did 100 years ago when their eyelashes grew inward and poked their eyes? Or 500 years ago? Seriously, it makes you wonder how the little things we find so annoying were addressed back in the day. I suppose people just lived with it.

  12. Oh man how ANNOYING! I'm so glad you went to the doctor & had it taken care of.

I thought about going for another walk in the fen today, but we had SNOW yesterday & it was in the 20s this morning. It's warmed up almost 20 degrees since then, but still too chilly for me to be outside doing anything. Brr!
