We're
getting ready to head into the city to work on the peacock panel
since the glass arrived the right size and undamaged. As if I don't
have enough to deal with just getting ready to do that, the cat got
attacked last night and I have to take her in to the vet before we
go.
I
wanted to write about the change in the attitude of the weather
overnight. Still warm and balmy but we seem to have shifted from
early fall, which is very springlike, to winter fall which is still
warm with intermittent cool/cold days. The couple of cold nights we
had earlier last week triggered what little color we have for fall
which is mostly yellow and brownish orange. Depending on when that
first cold snap comes sometimes we get red too and the leaves, which
have been sparsely dropping for weeks, now I think will be dropping
sincerely. Raining leaves.
So
overnight, the cat has puncture wounds, the weather shifted, and
something tried to drag the trash can off.
This
is where I found it this morning, top still locked in place, still
half full of garbage. The red arrow shows where it was when I went
to bed last night.
oh, dear. i'm thinking raccoons for trash and even maybe cat attack!
ReplyDeleteForgot to tell you my favorite team is the Upper Iowa Peacocks. I tend to like teams for their mascots.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought , being a totally rational person, was revenge of the rats! Remember "ghost of a flea" by Blake? Remember how huge it is and how threatening???Well, imagine the ghost of a rat! Just sayin'...
ReplyDelete( actually it probably was a gang of raccoons.)
Have fun with the peacock work.
ReplyDeleteThat half-full trashcan dragged so far away, with the lid still on, deserves a story...
Wow, I'm sorry about your cat's misfortune....and I wouldn't doubt a raccoon for both the attack and the trash. Those little buggers are strong and determined.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinkin a raccoon did it. Sorry about your kittie...dang it!!!
ReplyDeleteYikes. I wonder if the trash-can-thief is also what punctured the cat?
ReplyDeleteThose raccoons are wily little buggers. They'll roll that can all over the yard until the lid comes of and then...
ReplyDeleteCat's troubles probably from another cat. I've never seen coons and cats actually fight. They seem content to give each other a wide berth.
You owe that cat; he fended off something bigger than you will ever know. I'm thinking taller than your garage, and probably wider, too. Fangs down to the ground. Knuckles big as puss. It was something to behold! And you tried to distract us with leaves.
ReplyDeletePuncture wounds can be bad. Hopefully antibiotics will do the trick?
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing that peacock; I know it's been a pain but I bet it will be gorgeous.
How bizarre. Yet, your trash can is mighty to stay closed.
ReplyDeletePoor kitty! It's a jungle out there.
Aww poor kitty. How is she doing?
