Job
I
finished cutting the stencil on the first panel last Friday and
started marking it up in preparation for the sandblasting. I left
the faces for last because I still wasn't sure how to do them or what
the fuck I was doing. I have changed the diagram so many times that
even I don't know how to interpret it. Wednesday I just said, fuck
it, grabbed the 'I don't care tool', and finished it. It comes out
the way it comes out. Now I've started on the last diagram and so
far it is fairly untroublesome is that a word? spell check
doesn't seem to think so.
Wound
It
seems to be healing nicely though I noticed last night one of my
stitches came untied and I didn't get nearly the bruise I thought I
would. 2 1/2" top to bottom, front left thigh about halfway between my knee and bottom. Still tender though not as much. The most tender part is the
slight bulge above the would so now I'm wondering if some of the
tissue missing out of the wound got shoved up under the skin above
it. The last two mornings it has been zapping me with stings for
about half an hour.
Yard
Late
summer in the yard has been droopy
with the heat and the rain. We had rain and rain and rain with a few
dry days here and there and oppressively hot. The roses and altheas
look tired and scraggly.
The zinnias have finally taken off though
and the four o'clocks too and now that they have, I realize I'm going
to have to move the four o'clocks elsewhere as they want to take up
too much space though I am enjoying their sweet perfume in the
evenings.
The yellow angel trumpet that I planted in the long day
lily bed 3 years ago is blooming for the first time and the beauty
berry is showing off and the datura is finally blooming.
The ginger
is still giving me some blooms and the penta, well, the penta only
stops blooming if we get a little freeze.
The front yard is a
totally neglected mess right now and needs an overhaul.
The wound looks like it's healing nicely.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are glorious. Enjoy them.
That last photo made me smile...I think my zinnias are all volunteers as they come up after the small rabbits have eaten the ones I planted.
ReplyDelete"Untroublesome" definitely a word. Spellcheck is mad, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your wound is healing nicely. And you'll have a wicked scar to show for it.
Your flowers look sooo pretty and healthy.
I think you may have gotten more rain this afternoon. At least, there were reports coming out of Brazoria and Wharton counties of 1-2". The flowers are looking good -- I do like the zinnias. I found beauty berries galore this past weekend. If I had a yard, that's one of the things I would plant. Do the birds eat them? I didn't find any that had been nibbled, but perhaps there's so much food right now, they don't need them. Or, it could be that they're not fully ripe. I wasn't about to taste one.
ReplyDeletewe got some yesterday and it was raining when I got up this morning. Yes, the birds eat the berries, mockingbirds especially, they just haven't got around to them yet. I transplanted this one from the city house in the middle of the summer of 2014. It's doing OK but not thriving yet. It used to be at least twice the size it is now.
DeleteI can't believe how big the penta is. Here we get it as an annual, never getting too large.hope the project recovers and works well. Perhaps you have been on it to long and lost your thoughts
ReplyDeleteLove the little visitor to your beautiful garden.
ReplyDeleteI look at the would and wonder what order the doctor stitched it together in. Good thing he didn't have and I don't care tool. I think I had one of those around by the loom, though. Gave it all away.
ReplyDeleteHe tacked the point of the triangle down first, then one stitch one each side to tack the sides in place, then stitched up one side, then the other, then the three stitches in the center last (the center 'toe' of the chicken foot was not cut all the way through the skin and I was surprised he put stitches there).
DeleteShark bite.
ReplyDeleteLove that last photo with the lizard.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! That thing looks like something Dr. Frankenstein did, scary!
ReplyDeleteMy hip scar was fairly "ropy" for a while - it was hard to lay on that side since it felt like I was laying on a stick. But I put vitamin E oil on it (at least until the one bottle ran out) & now you can see it, but not really feel it.
ReplyDeleteLove the little dud in the last picture :)
Your flower garden is looking great, especially the zinnias and the yellow angel trumpets. My wife is thinking of starting her own garden, and hopefully hers will turn out just as nice as yours. Any tips for beginners like us? The last photo of the lizard adds a nice touch to the post. Hope the wound continues to heal properly.
