#resistance

I wanted to write something but it's all just so depressing. Not only what is happening but the changes in the American psyche that has allowed this to happen. For all the protests and they are awesome, there are a lot of people who like what Trump is doing. They don't understand, of course, the ramifications and the consequences of what he is doing, they just see him doing what needs to be done to keep out anyone that is not white and Christian. Never mind that it is our bombs that have destroyed their homes and livelihoods and their lives, if they are Muslim, not welcome, a measure guaranteed to increase the enmity towards the United States and in fact ISIS is celebrating, expecting more people to join them.

Regardless of all the scary stuff that Trump is doing, and I increasingly believe that he is in thrall to Steve Bannon, this white Christian America First stuff is going to cause so much suffering. Because this is not just about who we allow in but how we treat our own citizens and permanent residents. This weekend, mothers were kept from their children, children were kept from their families, people whose homes are here were refused entry, people who sold everything they had in anticipation of arriving were refused entry, people who helped us in Iraq at great danger to themselves were denied entry. All these people had no where to return to.  And yet, the muslim majority countries that the 9/11 terrorists came from are not included on the list while not one refugee from any of the countries on that list has committed terrorism in this country. The unexpected and immediate ban was bad enough, worse is Trump's careless and thoughtless sudden execution of it and of course the very next day a mosque was burned in Texas and a Canadian white christian Trump supporter killed 8 muslims in Canada and again here in Texas, muslim religious leaders were sent letters by one of our state legislators basically asking them where their loyalties lie and wanting them to sign pledges.

As if the Muslim ban isn't bad enough (and it is a muslim ban since christians and jews were excluded), he was all set, at Pence's urging, to issue an executive order on Tuesday rescinding Obama's executive order protecting LGBT federal employees and workers hired by contractors using federal money from discrimination, allowing discrimination based on religious beliefs. It was tabled at the last minute for fear of creating more bad press but I don't for a minute believe it won't come up again. And while we were distracted by that he issued an EO on regulations in the EPA and FDA requiring that for every new regulation, two old ones must be got rid of. You know, those regulations that keep us safe from pollution and unsafe food and drug processing. And worse, fired the generals on the National Security Council and replaced them with Bannon and Priebus. Fortunately, they will have to be approved by the Senate (something else that pissed Trump off) because the NSC has to approve any American targeted for assassination for being a real and immediate threat. I, for one, don't want Bannon involved in that decision.

And now Trump has fired the Attorney General because she did not uphold his unconstitutional ban, insulting her and her integrity in the process, because that's what he does, which means that since Jeff Sessions has not yet been approved, we don't have an Attorney General.

And this all just in the last several days.

Meanwhile China is mobilizing and moving nuclear missiles to their border with Russia, the better to reach us my dear. China is not amused. China does not have a sense of humor.

No one is talking about the wall between us and Mexico anymore. It's just one fucking bombshell after another, which is a tactic btw to shell shock us and keep our attention on something else while they secretly go about their real agenda. I read an essay today that essentially said they are doing extreme things, unlawful things, to see how much push back they get, to see just what they can get away with and where they can get away with it.

I've been following two twitter accounts, @RoguePOTUSStaff and @RogueSNRadvisor, who are posting from inside the White House reporting on things there. Bannon has almost complete control and Trump's son-in-law Kushner has a lot of influence. Anyone else, not so much. It's not a pretty picture and actually downright frightening how ignorant Trump is, that a fact is not a fact until he says it is, that so much about our system of government needs to be explained to him, what he can and cannot do, that he is rude and screams his anger and frustration, that he has a constant supply of fast food being delivered, that he hides in the residence watching movies instead of doing his job.

I'm proud of all the resistance but it's only been two weeks. People will have to go back to their jobs, to their lives, and it's wearying to be protesting all the time. Can we keep it up for the length of time it takes? Well, we must regardless because if we quit we will see this country transformed and not in a good way.

  1. There are many powerful leaders in Washington right now looking the other way or saying "just be patient." We will not forget their lack of courage.

  2. There are so many theories about what is really going on and every day seems scarier than the day before. Who could have ever imagined something like this six months ago.

  3. I try and look at the part of the glass that's half full; Trump is old, overweight, out of shape and can't handle stress. Maybe the job will kill him.

    1. I keep this in the front of my mind, too.

    2. Very much agree. First time in my life I have actually WISHED for an end to another person. This person is the source of so much distress all over the world. BUT, then,
we would not be a whole lot better off with the 2nd choice. The one who is so religious.
The one who pretends to be at God's right hand, and wants to control the rest of us based on that. Still, we have to hope something changes the present dilemma!!!

    3. Nope. He thrives on chaos and people distressed by his dictatorial style. He thinks he is still on controlled, cruel show, The Apprentice. Only when many more people speak out against than with him, will he get stressed.

  4. Ellen, though I wanted to just ignore it all, I can't. My own husband defends Trump against the democrats and press. I had to tell him to shut up last night. I do believe you are right about seeing what sticks. Kind of like helter skelter - burn the place down and see who is left standing. Bannon is evil. I think he is the sick brain behind it all. I used to hate Rove, but I think Bannon has him beat. And now, a Catholic priest is telling people against Trump to kill themselves. What our country has become is sad. I'm worried for the young ones. The Nazi mentality was not all that long ago.

  5. The ghost writer for his book The Art of the Deal said that if he became president, then he believed it would be the end of humanity as we know it. I hope impeachment is not far off.

  6. If this keeps up you may be running for office. LOL

  7. I am in total agreement, and the worry of how this is wearing us down it is in a nutshell mass causality mental abuse! While it is tiring to take to the streets and we American's who believed we had all this freedom, see it is not SO! If we don't show up at our jobs, we get canned, if we speak out too loud we can get canned, so we stay kinda quiet. I am retired now but on my last job there was this loud mouth Obama hater she spoke freely and loudly of how much she hated Obama she call him a "bum" when I asked her why she felt that way she simply glared at me and had no real answer. I went to my employer and told her the atmosphere in our work place was hostile, and I didn't think that was legal, so even though I had no clue it was enough for my boss to put an end to the loud mouthing! We each had our own opinions and we could share them one to one in private conversations but it was no longer allowed to be "loud speakered" to us all. This is how we continue the fight is my point. We speak out to the lady at the grocery store who is in favor of this policy, we speak out to our church leaders and our neighbors I took my flag down the day he won the election, my neighbor didn't like that she said we should support our system of government, I told her in no uncertain terms I would not support him! Write more letters to your senators, keep them on speed dial, and keep protesting even if it's only on your FB, Twitter, Blog, etc. I have added Republican Leaders to pages I've Liked so I can go there and voice my concerns, and my disagreement. We must applaud our Senators who have spoken out against them, the entertainers, and talk show hosts who have spoken out against them, we have to help them stay strong for they attract the most abuse of these Trump Trolls. Just look at what happened to Starbucks in the news just yesterday... I want to continue to add even more Republican leaders Facebook pages so I can speak out directly to the supporters, Yes I have attracted Trolls, but I handle it. Citizen out cry is ALL that is stopping them. We have to call on the Republican leadership to rein them in, since they have control of everything! Sorry for the length of this comment.

    1. I took down all flags when GW took us to war in Iraq. Could NEVER believe that happened. No justification for it, and look where all those deaths and disabled has gotten us. Nowhere. Loved dear President Obama, but never replaced the flags. The party of "NO" kept him shackled; prevented him from going ahead. Even his rightful job of appointing a SC judge! Now, when I see a flag in front of a house, I think it might be safe to assume a Trumpette lives there. Unless, maybe, someone there fought for that flag. The flag used to represent good things.

  8. It's a long way down the line of succession to get to a decent President. May have to go to the White House cleaning staff for that.

  9. I truly believe that Bannon is doing exactly as he stated he would do..."dismantle the US government". He is a Leninist and wants us to dissolve into a controlled state. I also believe that Trump's people have created this maze of turmoil as a smoke screen and pretest to a coup to take over the government......period.

    1. I fear you may be right. what I don't understand is why these people want to destroy this country unless they are all Russian sleeper agents.

  10. Ellen. . . your "unless they are all Russian sleeper agents" is a terrifying, though plausible, comment. There are too many unexplored Russian connections that likely won't be explored as Rome burns. And too little attention is being paid to what's happening in the FSB and how it fits in nicely with the theory that Trump is controlled by Putin. I have scoffed in the past at conspiracy theorists, but the known facts point in a frightening direction.

  11. Time to build that fall-out shelter and go into hiding! Trump is the puppet and Bannon holds the strings. I am afraid for my grandchildren. And the Bible Belt of white Christians who voted for this? Maybe they should read the book of Revelation, cause I am not sure that Trump is not the anti-Christ.
