grandkid visits - week 1

Jade was ready for her week with a list of projects, a supply list for those projects, and a menu for the week...breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At 14, she is a very organized young woman.

We had a lot of fun, Jade and I. She really didn't need any help with any of the things we did. Well, maybe a little, especially with the sewing parts, but mostly all she needed was company.

We stayed up late every night. Me, til midnight. Sometimes she stayed up longer.

We made bow rings.

We made a tribal necklace. Jade made a tribal necklace.

We cut down T-shirts and wove up the sides.

We made her Oscar The Grouch Halloween costume into a bag to keep her yearbook from school and a scrapbook in so it won't get messed up.

We made pies and cookies. She turned her head when I lifted the camera. 'Nooo, Granny. I don't like the way it looks with my hair up.' She ran off to the bathroom and fixed it and came back and posed for me.

We made a dino hoodie.

Again with the turning of the head.

The week was over in no time. I took her home and returned with Robin.

You are so lucky to have them close and to have the valuable time to spend with them. I had so much fun getting to know my "new" granddaughter, Kyra. She is 15, and such a sweet personality. I miss them, even though they just left!

Wow Ellen - she's gorgeous! I love the bow rings & the tribal necklace. I probably won't be trying the woven t-shirt though :)

My goodness - what a different experience than those I had with my grandparents! I had fun, but they were older by the time I was born, and still very much rooted in the Old Country (Sweden). But my goodness - I did learn to cook! And had all the time in the world for swinging and reading.

Your projects were marvelous - and what a lovely young woman!

I love the grandmother/granddaughter activities you do together. I'm envious. I'm ready for grandchildren but my kids aren't even close, yet.

Jade is a beautiful girl.. hair up or down.

I read all the posts and you are a wonderful Grandma - how much fun to come to your house!

I wonder if you Granddaughter would like to share how to make a tribal necklace? Wallene would love to do that.

Me? I just really want a dino hoodie. giggle

PS - all your pics from the previous 3 posts are gorgeous. What camera do you use? I think I already asked you that and I know it is the operator [you] more than the camera, but I can't even come close to that. :)
