close but no cigar

Can you see the rain in this picture?

I know, hard to see.

It was raining lightly while the sun was shining the whole time. We caught just the barest edge of the little rain cloud. Only lasted about 10 minutes or so. Enough rain to get the exposed areas wet but not enough to make it through even the barest canopy. Enough to kind of rinse things off a bit. I was out there calling to it, trying to persuade it to come my way but it had other plans.

Later, on my way to check on my sister's cats while she is gone (the dogs are here), I saw that they got a decent little shower in town.

Actual puddles of water still standing.

I'm trying hard not to be envious.

They need water too.

  1. Well, this is a good sign. Got my fingers crossed. You told me you weren't sure what's worse: the kind of summer you're having, or no summer at all (what we're having in OR). I know for sure that what's worse is this drought of yours. No comparison.

  2. I wish I could share ours with y'all too.
We need rain too, but we have enough that it would be nice if it visited other places too.
Take care. Hopefully the fall will bring something.

Same thing here although we've had a lot of noise from the thunder.

I was looking at your studio website. Your work is so fantastic. I particularly like the box with the feather inside, and the bowls with the bird eggs inside. Simply beautiful work Ellen.

  10. S'not fair, here we are drowning in the stuff, and there you are praying for a drop of it! Maybe this little mist you received is a precursor of what's to come? I certainly hope so!

  12. I'd share, too, but can't. We're inches and inches above normal. There's been some minor flooding. But what I've noticed and loved: the grass is still green, not shredded wheat. The trees are green and shiny, not covered in dust. Of course, there are zillions of mosquitos.....
