frozen

Everything is frozen.  I know that doesn’t seem like much of an event to my readers, um, say, anywhere much north of me, but here in coastal Texas, things are not supposed to freeze!  The water in my rain collectors has a thick frozen layer on top.

The water in the bird bath is frozen solid.  The grass crunches under foot.  Every leaf on every tree, shrub and plant is FROZEN!

Even a little bird.

And last night was only the first of four predicted consecutive nights in the low 20s.

  2. Well, then, no reason to live in Texas anymore...my parents lived in McAllen and Mission for a while. The weather was superb! The weather was the only draw ...Little bird, ahhh.

  6. Poor sweet bird. We have weather coming too, I think. But strangely it was almost 50 degrees here in the mountains today! Weird.

  8. Poor little bird, so sad.

I can no longer feel my feet. We are looking forward to temps in the 30's by next weekend. Tonight will be in the minus category and I am not a happy kamper!

  12. Oh poor bird. This cold is so hard on all of you in the South, especially the ones who have to live outside. I think it's going to normalize in a couple of days for you.

  13. The bird! Poor little bird. :(
Things like that make me so incredibly sad. He probably flew south for the winter thinking he'd be nice and toasty warm...but that's not the case.

I hope things warm up a bit for you soon.
