the third

The third long weekend of four with the third grandchild.  Autumn is the younger of the twins by about 15 minutes.  Younger, perhaps, but she had a half inch and half a pound on her sister.  She kept that half inch of height until their tenth birthday when her sister caught up.

At 11, Autumn is sweet, generous, thoughtful, helpful with an even temper, easy to get along with, easy to be with.  She is our girlie girl.  She will give up her place, her treat, her turn in the front seat to appease a more querulous sibling.  And she has an award winning smile.  As a Gemini, she and her sister seem to share two personalities between them, sunny and cloudy, and they flip flop every few years.

She’s the quietest of the four, entertains herself easily and she approaches everything with focus.  She is very smart and applies herself without prompting to her schoolwork.

She has been looking over my shoulder as I prepare this post claiming editorial prerogative over the pictures.  We had to have three photo sessions before she was satisfied.

  7. Autumn, just like the rest of your grandkids, is beautiful and distinct, her own person. You are rich in grandchildren, Ellen. And they're so lucky to have you, too.

  15. Thanks everyone. She is such a sweet good girl. When we were packing up and cleaning to button down the house she kept asking me what she could do to help and whatever I asked, she did cheerfully.

Steven - watching the twins grow, seeing them so much alike and so much different at the same time has been great fun. Just when you have figured out which is which, they will go through a growth spurt and, if you aren't paying attention, confuse you again.

Willow - my pleasure. I always enjoy your blog, and thank you.

Also, welcome to my new visitors Pearl and JStantonChandler.
